ALBERT WILLIAM and OLIVE ELIZABETH BUFFON PENRY

Albert William Penry was born Feb. 22, 1896, in Pilot Grove Twp. He was the son of James Monroe and Pricilla Roberts Penry.

Albert (Bert) married Olive Elizabeth Buffon, on Feb. 14, 1923, at Elliott, Iowa. This was also the birthday of Olive's grandmother. Her parents were William Ellsworth and Edith Elma Hurst Buffon. Olive was baptized into the Christian Church at Elliott.

Bert was a farm hand when they were first married. They lived with Bert's parents until they were able to move to the Braden place, west of Elliott. They lived in the Elliott and Stennett area until moving to Red Oak, in Dec. 1944. Bert, later on, drove a truck for 20 years. He retired a number of years ago.

Bert and Olive were the parents of ten children: Mrs. Harvey H. Orr (Elsie Mae0; James William; Mrs. Victor S. Anderson (Laura Marie); Elmo Fay, who married Mary Jane Holldorf; Mrs. Wayne Hammer (Mary Ann); Francis Edward, who was married to Myrna Rose Govig; Shirley Jean; Nancy Joan (twins); Guy Ellworth, and Robert Lee. The children were all born while living in the Elliott and Stennett area, except for the last four who were born in Iowa City. The children are all living except Robert Lee who died at birth. Bert and Olive also have 21 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Olive enjoys working with plants, both indoor and out. She has also pieced over 20 quilts, by hand. She has given them to all her children and relatives.

Bert and Olive's health is now failing, and they are not able to get around and do as much as they once did.
