EMERY A. LOWMAN

 

   The son of John H. Lowman and Lucinda McCollum Lowman, Emery was born on January 30, 1868 in Polk County, Iowa. Except for the first year of his life he lived the entirety of his life in Pleasant Township, Cass County, Iowa.

   On December 25, 1889, he was united in marriage to Mae Elizabeth, daughter of S. F. and Elizabeth Wineman Patterson. To this Union were born eight children: Eva Walker, Earl, Lucie Smith, Roy (now living in Ames, Iowa), Florence Stayer, Thelma Combs (living now in Loveland, Colorado), and two who died in infancy. Emery was a farmer, and Mae taught school before her marriage. They lived on the farm in Cass County for many years, then retired and moved into Elliott. They were members of the Christian Church. Emery died August 31, 1940, and Mae died June 9, 1942. They are buried at Lowman Cemetery.
