Elliott Centennial, 1879 - 1979

Elliott Centennial Committee

Dedication

We would like to express appreciation to all those who have given pictures, family histories, special features stories and information regarding the history of Elliott Community. We are grateful for the help from files of the Red Oak Express, Griswold American, Montgomery Co. Court house, microfilms of the Red Oak Sun and Peoples Telephone in the Red Oak Library and cooperation from the Elliott Library. Our special Thanks to Lucille Oster for gleaning news items from the Elliott Graphics, and to Dorothy DeWitt Wilkinson for helping us contact many former residents.

We have tried to rely on documented evidence as much as possible and included recollections where we thought it would add interest. Due to our brief time in researching and compiling, we hope our readers will understand any errors and contradictions. We apologize for any omissions of important events or people who have been missed. There will be a permanent genealogy file kept in the Elliott Library.  You are invited to submit either pedigree charts or families histories for future reference if you have not been included in this history.

It is our hope that all of those who have roots in the Elliott community will enjoy this chronicle of growth and that it will be interesting and informative to future generations
