Sixteen Graduated
Stanton, May 23 – The Stanton high school and eighth grade commencement exercises were held at the school gymnasium Friday evening when the senior class of 16 members received their diplomas and the eighth grade students received their certificates. Rev. W. D. Lee, pastor of the Elliott Christian church, gave the commencement address on “Your Assignment for Tomorrow.” Helen Larson gave the welcome, Marilyn Larson, the class motto, and Phyllis Shogren introduced the speaker. Superintendent E. O. Lindberg presented the class and Glen Johnson, school board president, presented the class members with their diplomas. E. O. Lindberg presented the eighth grade graduates with their certificates. Music for the event consisted of a vocal solo by Glen Harris Johnson, two numbers by the high school mixed chorus, and one selection by the senior quartet.

On Thursday evening the senior class play was presented under the direction of Mrs. Herbert Honette. The play was a three-act comedy entitled “New Fires.” Music between the acts was by the high school band and vocal selections. Marilyn Larson was student director and Glen Harris Johnson, stage manager. A capacity audience was present.
