John Peter “Jack” Curry, age
73, of Omaha, Nebraska passed away Saturday, April 17, 2004 at the
Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. John Peter Curry was
born July 8, 1930 in Omaha, Nebraska the son of Peter A. and
Clotilda D. (Hogan) Curry. He grew up in rural Red Oak and graduated
from Red Oak High School Class of 1949. Jack later served in the
United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a truck
driver for many years. Jack was united in marriage to Doris Perrin
on November 25, 1967. They operated a dispatching business through
Dallas Mavis Trucking Company in Council Bluffs until Doris’ death
in 2002. Jack was a member of the Council Bluffs American Legion.
Jack was preceded in death by his father: Peter Curry; and his wife:
Doris Curry in February of 2002.
Survivors include his mother: Tillie Curry of Red Oak, Iowa;
children: James Holbrook of Quitman, Missouri; Deborah Holbrook of
Maryville, Missouri; Sheryl Hamann and husband Harvey of Colorado
Springs, Colorado; and Pam Gutierrez and husband Mark of Omaha,
Nebraska; 5 grandchildren: Shelley McGinnis, Christy McGinnis, Stacy
Corbett, Travis Hamann and wife Heather, and Wendi Hamann; 6 great
grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Wednesday, April 21, 2004
at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Ken Gross, Celebrant.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak. Visitation with
the family will be held from 7-8 PM Tuesday, April 20, 2004 at the
Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the
Council Bluffs American Legion Post #2.
