DEATH OF THOMAS JACKSON

 Thomas Jackson, for a number of years a resident of Grant township, moving to Red Oak last fall died at his home early Monday morning from abscess of the right lung from which he had been a sufferer for a year past, complicated with heart disease.  Mr. Jackson was in his 70th year.  He was born in Knox county, Ohio, Jan 31 1830.  He came to Montgomery county in 1880.  He was a member of the Christian church and held the respect of all who knew him. The funeral services were held in the Christian church on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 31, at 2 o’clock, and were conducted by Eld. Edgar Price.  There was a large attendance.

DEATH OF MRS. HARRIET TURNEY

Mrs. Harriett Turney, mother of Engineer Ed C. Turney, died at the home of the latter Monday morning, Jan 29, at 4 o’clock, from influenza, after an illness of six days.  She was in her 76th year, Mrs. Turney’s maiden name was Harriet Lucinda Kelly.  She was born in Delaware county, Ohio, Dec. 16, 1824.  She was married to Samuel R. Canan May 1, 1845, in Delaware, Ohio.  To them was born one child, a son, Charles Canan.  Mr. Canan died April 2, 1848.  On Dec. 19, 1857, in Delaware, Ohio, she married to Ager Turney. ….. The infant child of Mrs. W. L. Lewis, died Thursday morning, April 12, and was buried at Milford on Friday morning.

Miss Alice Doggett

- Villisca -Miss Alice Doggett, who went to Osceola, Neb., about a month ago in hope of improvement in health, died there April 13, from consumption.

Mrs. L. T. Cook

- Villisca - Mrs. L. T. Cook died at her home here April 13. She was born in Muscatine and in her 38th year. Her husband and one child, a daughter, survive her.

J. F. Sparling

J. F. Sparling, formerly of Villisca, died recently in Denver Col., where he had made his home for a year past, his children living there. He was past 80 years of age.  Mrs. Sparlin and four children, two sons and two daughters, survive him.
