GREEN, John died at the Killingsworth hospital in Clarinda Tuesday morning, February 4, 1913, at fifteen minutes past four o'clock. He had gone to the. hospital two weeks ago Tuesday and was operated upon the following day for hernia. He was also a sufferer of diabetes and his death resulted from the complication of the two troubles.

John Green was born in Pennsylvania September 12, 1845, and was 67 years, four months and twenty-two days old at the time of his death. On January 1, 1866, John Green was united in marriage to Harriett Dawson. They moved to Kansas, where they lived. on a farm southwest of Villisca, where the wife died in 1890.

March 10, 1892, Mr. Green was again married, this time to Marietta Thompson and they resided on the farm in Page county for seven years, moving to Villisca in 1899, where they had since lived.

He is survived by his wife and two children, Mrs. George Atkinson, living southwest of Villisca, and Ed Green of Council Bluffs, both being present for the funeral.

In 1864, Mr. Green enlisted for service in the Civil War in Company C, 203rd regiment, Pennsylvania, and saw considerable active service. He was not a member of the G. A. R. Post, but it has been requested that the Ladies of the G. A. R. Circle give their flag service at the funeral.

For a number of years Mr. Green had been a member of the M. E. church and had lived a quiet, reserved, Christian life. He was beloved by his fellowmen and possessed qualities which won for him many friends.

The funeral service will be held from the M. E. church today (Thursday), at half past two o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. W. Taylor, assisted by Rev. W. J. Ewing and Rev. G. W. Maine. The interment will be in the Villisca cemetary.
