The War of 1812, from June 1812 to February 1815 was fought by the United States of America, and its indigenous allies, against the United Kingdom and its allies in British North America. It began when the US declared war on June 18, 1812. It ended with the Treaty of Ghent in December 1814. However, was not officially over until the peace treaty was ratified by Congress in February 1815.
