MRS W H LEWIS PASSES AWAY AFTER A LONG ILLNESS Mrs W H Lewis, a pioneer resident of Monroes counry, who has been rapidly failing since the sudden death of her husband the later part of August, passed away Saturday morning at her home on South Clinton street. Funeral services were held at the late residence Monday afternoon, Rev B F Schwartz of the M E church officating. Mrs Jemima Haris Lewis was born in Ebpow-vale, Mommouthshire, England, November 28, 1844. She and her husband came to Cameron county, Pennsylvania, in 1864, and later to Monroe county, Iowa, where she resided until her death Dec. 3, 1927, at the age of 83 years and 5 days. Mrs Lewis was united in marriage to W H Lewis at Tredegar, Engand, Feb. 14, 1865 and to this union six children were born. four having preceded her death. She leaves to mourn her departure one son, T J Lewis of Long Beach, California, one daughter, Mre Louisa Barker of Chicago, Ill, five grandchildren; Arthur Lewis and Mrs Myrtle Jones of Albia, Iowa, Mrs Fern Reynolds, William Flanders and Ralph Barker all of Chicago, Ill.; six great grandchildren; a nephew W S Lewis of Albia, Iowa, and a host of friends. Deceased was a member of the Methodist Espicopal church for more then 30 years, but on account of ill health was not permitted to atend church services as often as she desired. A life of true service was hers. Service to her family, her neighbors, her God, a fine neighbor, a sacrificing mother. On Saturday morning surrounded by her devoted family, she passed to her reward.
