Excelsior Coal Co. was organized but shortly proir to their beginning operations in
April last, with the following list of officers:? Lowery, Pt.Byron,III,President; S.M. Churchill,
Geo.Bently, H.C. Rockwell, and W.A. Durfee, Directors; Mr.Lowery is also a Director; Mr.Durfee,
who is a director and also Superintendent, comes from the coal fields of Illinois and his experience
there has enabled him to build the necessary works here with perfectness and economy.
