William Harper was born May 10,1890, and departed this life at his home in Avery, May 2, 1915, aged 24 years, 11 months and 22 days.He was married to Hazel Ames in Benton, Franklin County, Illinois, November 2, 1912, residing there until December 1914, when he went to Colorado in the hope of regaining his health. He returned to Iowa in March 1915. On Thursday before he passed away he was converted, telling a friend that he was ready to die. Two children were born to Mr. And Mrs. Harper, one of them dying in infancy. Funeral services were held at the Miller Ridge church Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Alvah Huff, and interment was made in the Smith cemetery. There were a large number of relatives and friends present to pay respect to the deceased.
Note – Although there is not a marker for his grave,the obituary says he is buried in Smith Cemetery.He was a son-in-law of Tyrus Porter and Florence Miller Ames. The obituary mentions a child dying in infancy who could also be buried here.
