Mary Clarissa Parry, daughter of James and Selina Parry was born in Mantua Township, Monroe County, Iowa, April 26, 1877, and departed this life Thursday, February 2, 1922, aged 44 years, nine months and seven days.
December 25th, 1901, she was united in marriage to Robert Henderson who preceded her in death almost twelve years. Left a widow with five children, James, William, Ruth, Theodore and Robert and one brother and two sisters, David Parry of Winifred, Mont., Mrs. Sadie Lewis and Mrs. Mattie Jones of Hiteman, Iowa.
Early in life she became a member of the Bethel Methodist Protestant church through whose influence she grew up honored and respected, possessed of many noble qualities which grew and ripened through the years as the responsibilities of a home and a family came to her. Her closing days were peaceful as she looked away to the great unseen world which was soon to open to her and become a great reality.
While sorrow and disappointment is the lot of all the members of her family and a wide circle of friends that she has gathered around her in more than forty years of continuous residence in this community, yet let us all try to say with one who loved her dearly: "We call her not back in her sorrow and pain for she is at rest at last."
Funeral services were held at the home six miles east of town at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5th, conducted by Rev. W. S. Longnecker. Music was provided by Mrs. A. R. Littleton and sister, Mrs. Howard Dixon. Relatives and friends numbering several hundred were in attendance. Burial in the Smith cemetery.
