Elizabeth Duera Davis, daughter of James and Elizabeth Davis, born in Columbiana county, Ohio, May 17, 1858, died at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Oct. 24, 1916, age 57 years, 5 months and 7 days. When three years of age her parents came west, locating in Monroe county, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. She was married to John Beebe, Feb. 1875. To this union three daughters and one son was born. Mrs. Alfred Nelson, Albia, Ia., Mrs. John Rush, Ottumwa, Ia., Mrs. Pleas McKim, Foster, Ia. and Leslie Beebe, Blakesburg, Ia., all of whom survive her, with one sister, Mrs. Margaret Nelson of Avery, Ia. grandchildren and other relatives. In early youth she was converted and united with the Methodist church. Later moving to another part of the county she united with the United Brethren Church at Selection, Ia. A little over five years ago her mind became deranged. She gradually grew worse. One year ago last May she was taken to the hospital at Mt. Pleasant, where she remained until God saw fit to call her home. She was a kind and affectionate wife and mother, sacrificing and enduring much that others might have pleasure. She loved the Bible and oft would she walk back and forth in the hospital with a Bible folded in her arms.
