| MORRIS Nelson Bonaparte MORRIS moved to Monona County about 1862 (Sherman Township). Jason Harrison and Sarah Louise MORRIS and their three boys, Charles Fairbanks, George P., and John Robert MORRIS moved soon about JR was born in 1865. Sarah was partners in the Commercial House (Morris & Smith, props), Whiting (sold May 1900). JR graduated class of 1893, Whiting. Nelson Bonaparte MORRIS was still alive on Nov 22, 1891 (have a letter in his name). His tombstone doesn't have a date. He is believed to be buried in the Harrison Cemetery. We also believe that his headstone says only "Grandfather." Jason Harrison MORRIS died July 10, 1901. His headstone says July ?, 1902. Do we have any connections?? | |

Do have name of Charles parents as Andrew TAYLOR and Ann TOMBS, but have no additional data on parents, siblings, etc. Emma Jeanette ALLEN, Charles' wife, was b. 24 Aug 1855 Magnolia, Harrison, IA and died 29 Apr 1936 Correctionville, IA. She is the dau. of Andrew ALLEN whose will was probated 1 Apr 1867 Harrison Co., IA and Nancy WHITE. Charles Andrew TAYLOR and Emma Jeanette ALLEN had following children: 1. I have my great-grandmothers trip notebook of when she and her husband and two sons went to Castana and Sioux City, Iowa. My grandmothers name was Ethel Alberta (ROSS) SMITH, she was married to George Leigh SMITH they had two sons, Howard Ross SMITH and Russell Leigh SMITH they took this trip in the year 1921. They visited a Gilbert BROWNING, Ethel's uncle, and another relative who was a lawyer by the name of D.C. BROWNING who's law office was in Sioux City. There was also a cousin listed a Myron CLARK. ROACH (18 May 1852 IN - 18 JAN 1938 NE) and Martha Caroline (MCVICKER) COLE (4 Aug 1858 IL - 16 Oct 1943 NE) were married 16 Oct 1886 in Ida Grove, IA. They moved, not long after to Mapleton, Monona Co. Albert's brother George Washington ROACH (1850 IN - 1936 NE) married a Clorinda Elmira ADEE in Phillipsburg, KS, but later moved to Mapleton, where his brother resided. Both families continued on west later. Martha Caroline McVICKER's parents, Stephen McVICKER (1827 OH -1900 IA) and Matilda Ann MERRICKS (1830 VA - 1915 IA) also moved to Mapleton and lived there. Before that they lived in Bracken Co, Ky. and John and Francis were born in VA. John's father was Matthew GREGG a private in the Revolutionary War serving in the Stafford Co. Troops of Va. Born 1745. Married Nancy GIPSON in 1769. They had several children. My line includes son Matthew GREGG who married Anna Thorton LEWIS in Clay Co, Missouri in 1836. In 1860 we find them in Harrison Co, MO. I would like more information about the surnames LEWIS, GREGG, SPILLMAN, and GIPSON.
