Little Cedar Man Wins 'Purple Heart'
Mr. and Mrs. John Rasmussen of near Little Cedar, received a package
and a note from their son Lyle, who is serving in North Africa, and to
their surprise discovered the coveted "Purple Heart."
Lyle very modestly speaks of this honor saying: "I was given the Purple
Heart for military merit. I have not been off one day since I have been
in field work. I was quite shocked to receive such a great medal for so
little as I have done."
Lyle is in the 34th DIvision medical Battalion, and served in Ireland
and England before going to Africa.
