MONA CEMETERY Mona (a.k.a. Farley) Update -- Nov. 12, 2002
Making gigantic progress . . . had about 15 people there working at Farleyyesterday and we got all the names logged, plus found a few head stones. Intotal we got 39 entries. Leveled and restacked several of the stones.
Fire Chief Todd Cooling of the Lyle Fire Department accompanied hisDepartment with three vehicles to the Farley Cemetery on Saturday November11, 2002 at approximately 1:00PM. The burn took about one hour and wascomplete. Only a few hard core weed stocks and a old fallen tree stumpremained along with the headstones. We are extremely thankful to ChiefCooling and the members of the Lyle Fire Department. Thank you for yourassistance.
Also, I Spoke to the property owners surrounding the cemetery and theyare willing to mow it once we have it smooth enough and grass seeded. Itlooks 100 percent better but still has a long way to go.
Today we went to Old Newburg (McKinley) Cemetery and started evaluatingthe work in order there.
Have about 20 people confirmed for the meeting Tuesday night so thisshould be a good turn out.
