Carpenter at 100
Carpenter's Main street is taking on a fresh look in preparation for the village's 100th birthday. The celebration will take place on August 20 thru 22. The picture shown here was taken about 1900. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Throne area shown in front of the hotel. Children are at play on the dirt road. With all the painting, cleaning and decorating being done, the new elevator looming 110 feet high, the ball diamond in good shape with new lighting and refreshment stand, flower beds blooming, beards evidenced everywhere, and committee activity, one can tell that Carpenter is going to honor its past and launch into its future.
