Koenigs, Henry 1904-1997

OBITUARY: Henry Koenigs, 1904-1997, Mitchell County, Iowa [Based on Obituary in Mason City Globe Gazette; July 12, 1997] Henry Koenigs STACYVILLE, IOWA-- Henry Koenigs, age 92, of Stacyville, died Thursday July 10, (1997) at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Visitation Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Schneider officiating. Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Meyer. Henry was born Aug. 20, 1904, at Meyer, Iowa, to Peter C. and Anna Marie (Klockner) Koenigs. Henry married Barbara M. Hartogh on May 17, 1938, at the St. Peter Church in New Haven, Iowa. His wife preceded him in death on Aug. 10, 1992. Meyer was his home on his farm until he and his wife moved to Stacyville. He went to the Nursing Home in June 1995. Henry served on the School Board, Creamery Board, was a Parish Trustee, and involved with the Boy Scouts at Sacred Heart in Meyer. After moving to Stacyville he was a member of Visitation Parish, Catholic Order of Foresters and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by three sons; Phil and his wife, Sharon, of New Hope, Minn.; Ray and his wife, Kathleen, of Stacyville, and Tony and his wife, Patricia, of Meyer; one daughter, Suzann and her husband Dan Wageman of Stacyville; two brothers, Thomas Koenigs of Adams, Minn., and Philip Koenigs of Stacyville; one sister, Elizabeth Loecher of Stacyville; 21 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one daughter Elizabeth Ann; five brothers, Aloysius, John, Joseph, Leo and Mathias Koenigs; and four sisters, Mary Fasbender, Theresa Schneider, Katie Wettstein and Anna Hartogh. Father Mark Reasoner officiated. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meyer. John passed away Thursday, October 2, 2003 at his residence after an extended illness. John was born on September 30, 1933 to Paul and Marie Bissen Koenigs at Meyer, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Jean Bartlett on September 25, 1954 at the Sacred Heart Church in Meyer, Iowa. "Big John" was a retired farmer. His father preceded him in death. John's survivors include his wife Bonnie of McIntire, Iowa; three sons Larry Koenigs and his wife Becky of Northfield, Minnesota; Russell Koenigs and his wife Lee Ann of McIntire, Iowa and Richard Koenigs and his fiancee Leanne Knoop of Marshalltown, Iowa; one daughter Nancy Ann Koenigs and her husband Kevin Carlson of Lake City, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, his mother Marie Koenigs of Stacyville, Iowa; three brothers Deo Koenigs and his wife Joan of St. Ansgar, Iowa; Roman Koenigs and his wife Ruth of Waseca, Minnesota, and Jerry Koenigs and his wife Sandy of McIntire; one sister Elaine Ramberg and her husband Dan of Hugo, Minnesota. OBITUARY: Kevin J. Koenigs, 1979-2003, Mitchell County, Iowa [ Mitchell County Press-News online - Posted June 4, 2003 ] Kevin J. Koenigs Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 3, 2003 for Kevin J. Koenigs, age 23, of Stacyville at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville. Father Mark Reasoner officiated. Interment was in Visitation Catholic Cemetery in Stacyville. Kevin died of injuries he received in an auto accident near Little Cedar. Kevin was born August 13, 1979 in Osage, the son of Kenneth and Veronica (Adams) Koenigs. He attended Visitation Catholic School in Stacyville and graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1998. Kevin worked as a D.J. with Heartland Express and was a bartender at the Hang Out in Riceville. He enjoyed music, snowmobiling, four-wheeling and being with his friends and his dog Sparky. Preceding Kevin in death were his maternal grandparents Clara and Ernest Adams and paternal grandmother Olive Koenigs. Kevin's survivors include his parents Kenneth and Veronica Koenigs of Stacyville; three brothers Brian Koenigs of Stacyville, Craig Koenigs of Cresco and Scott Koenigs, also of Stacyville; paternal grandfather Al Koenigs of Stacyville, many aunts, uncles and cousins. Rev. Joseph Schneider officiated and burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Meyer. She passed away Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001 at her home in Stacyville. Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, was in charge of arrangements. Olive was born Feb. 25, 1919 to Joseph and Mary (Muller) Blake. She married Aloysius P. Koenigs on June 14, 1938. Olive was a housewife and a mother of six. She was a member of Visitation Catholic Church of Stacyville, Thread Clippers Quilting Club, won a bowling championship in Stacyville at the age of 79, a member of the Christian Mothers Society (Meyer & Stacyville), lector, Eucharistic minister and choir member of Sacred Heart parish, Meyer. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Ernie and Edwin Blake, two sisters, Leona Robinson and Bertha Blake, one son and three daughters who died in infancy. Regina (Bissen) Koenigs was born June 2, 1908 at Johnsburg, Minn., the daughter of John and Christina (Waldorf) Bissen. She married Arnold Koenigs at Meyer, Iowa, April 30, 1929, and they farmed in the Meyer, Iowa area until retirement in 1976, when they moved to Stacyville, Iowa. She enjoyed her family, quilting, gardening and flowers. Survivors include her children, Bonita and John Streit, Mary Ann and Norb Klapperich and Aggie and Maynard Theobald, all of Stacyville, Iowa, Geni and Ken Detviler, Inver Grove Heights, Geri and Roger Fisher, Shakopee, Gilbert and Norma Koenigs, Inver Grove Heights and Bernie amd Judy Kopenigs of Eagle Lake, 39 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings. Services were held on Saturday, February 12, 2000, at Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville, Iowa, with the Rev. Joseph Schneider officiating. Interment was in the Visitation Church Cemetery. He enjoyed playing with his dog, Ruby and riding his go-kart. He liked to go fishing with his Dad and brought happiness to everyone who he knew. Taylor enjoyed playing with his cousins and loved spending time with all of his family. Taylor will be dearly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents and other relatives. OBITUARY: Ernest Frederick Kofoot, Mitchell County, Iowa (St. Ansgar Enterprise, St. Ansgar, Iowa; 13 JUN 1991 ) Ernest Frederick Kofoot [1897-1991] Surnames: Kofoot, Robeoltman, Kline Funeral services for Ernest Frederick Kofoot, 93, of Stacyville, were held Thursday, June 6 at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Porisch officiating. Ernest Frederick Kofoot was born in Geneseo Township, Cerro Gordo County, Sept. 6, 1897. He was baptized at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Rockwell and confirmed there May 28, 1910. Ernest graduated from Rockwell High School and completed a busines course at Hamilton University (sic) in Mason City. He bought the Latimer and O'Brien Garage which he later sold and started farming in Kossuth County in March, 1925. June 17, 1925 he married Martha Robeoltman at her parent's farm. To this union nine children were born. For many years Ernest was a member of a male quartet. Ernest and Martha farmed in various locations, moving to a farm east of St. Ansgar in March, 1944, where they lived for 22 years. They became members of the First Lutheran Church. He retired from farming and in 1966 moved to St. Ansgar where he worked as a carpenter until retiring at the age of 78 years. In 1985 Ernest and Martha celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary with their family in attendance. Ernest resided at the Stacyville Nursing Home after suffering a broken hip in April of this year. He died June 3 at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital. Survivors include three daughters, Helen Mae Liekweg, Sheffield; Mrs. Marvin (Lucille) Solberg, Floyd; Mrs. Jim (Donella) Kline, St. Ansgar; five sons: Marvin and Donald of St. Ansgar; Ralph of Spring Valley, Minn.; Leo of Spirit Lake; and Lyle of Watseka, Illinois; 23 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two sisters and one brother. Kogle, Lloyd 1916-2003

OBITUARY: Lloyd Emil Kogle, 1916-2003, Mitchell Co., Iowa Lloyd Emil Kogle A memorial service for Lloyd Emil Kogle was held Saturday, July 12, 2003 at 10:00 am at Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Burial of his ashes will be at his hometown Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar. Memorials can be sent to a Lutheran Church of your choice. Lloyd Emil Kogle died peacefully on July 7, 2003 after 87 years of smiles and laughs with his family, friends, and faith. He died from pneumonia at Good Samaritan Hospital after residing in Puyallup, WA for the last 6 years. He was born a triplet in Mason City, IA on April 24, 1916. He grew up and graduated high school in St. Ansgar, IA. On June 15, 1941 he married Ruth Hilda Meister who proceeded him in death on March 2, 1998. During World War II, Staff Sergeant Kogle served as a mess sergeant in the Persian Gulf Command and the Rhineland Campaign. Lloyd resided in Gladbrook, IA for 48 years where he and his wife were owners and operators of the Uptown Theater through the 1950's. From 1953 to 1976 he was a US Department of Agriculture Meat Inspector with assignments in Sioux City, Waterloo, Marshalltown, and Tama, IA. In August 1982, he was crowned the Cookout King at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines for his entry of "Grandpa Lloyd's Smoked Country Chicken." He was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Puyallup, a charter member and founder of Christ Lutheran Church in Gladbrook, a member of the American Legion, and a member of the World War II Persian Gulf Veterans Organization. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Henry and Minnie Kogle; half brother Albert Kogle; brother John Kogle; sister Evelyn Moeller; and triplets Grace Adrian and infant sister. A son, Mark L. Kogle and his wife Marty, of Puyallup; their children Heather, Amanda and her husband Sean Cash, and Matthew; and a daughter, Marcia Dee Kogle of Denver, CO, survive him. The Reverend Dennis Hanson and Reverend Roy Ott officiated. Interment was in the Osage Cemetery. Elsa Margarete Kohnke died Wednesday, May 1,2002 at Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage. She was born Dec. 6, 1906 in Diekdorf, Germany. She was raised in Heiligenstedten, Germany. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Marien Lutheran Church in Heiligenstedten, Germany. Elsa worked in Hamburg, Germany until the age of 23 and came to the United States on January 26, 1929. She was united in marriage to Herman Kohnke, Sr., on Oct. 14, 1933 in Clayton Center, IA. They served as maid, butler and chauffeur until 1940 and began farming in 1941. She lived on farms in Postville, Manly and Mona, IA until retirement in 1980 when she moved to Osage. Kohnke was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage and resided at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center since October of 1999, up until that time she lived alone at her home in Osage. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and tatting. Elsa will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband Herman Kohnke, Sr., son Herman Kohnke, Jr., one sister and one brother. Survivors include her son John Kohnke and his wife Pauline of Glenville, MN; two granddaughters, Monica Wallace and her husband Shon of Elko, MN and Marnie Thompson and her husband Scott of Albert Lea, MN; grandson Jay Kohnke and his wife Shelly of Austin, MN and great-grandchildren Nathan Kohnke, Andrew Thompson, Anna and Nathan Wallace. Kollman, Arthur 1906-1945

OBITUARY: Arthur Gustav Kollman, 1906-1945, Mitchell County, Iowa Arthur Gustav Kollman Funeral services for Arthur Kollman, 38, who died Sunday evening, were conducted at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the residence, and at 3:45 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage. The Rev. Elmer Yohr officiated and burial was in the Rudd cemetery. Arthur Gustav Kollman, the son of Gustave and Adolpha Muller Kollman, was born on September 5, 1906 at Rudd, Iowa. In 1907 when Arthur Kollman was a year old, his father died, leaving a mother with four children. In the year 1930 this family moved to Osage, where the mother still resides. In Osage, Arthur Kollman at once began his work as a gravel and lime- operating contractor, being in partnership with his brother Edward. He was married on October 14, 1939 to Miss Elsie Bock. Their home was Osage for the greater part of their married life. During the last two years his health had been impaired, but he had been able to work. Saturday he was taken ill and Sunday died at his home in Osage from a cerebral hemorrhage. His survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Elsie Kollman; his mother, Mrs. Adolpha Kollman, both of Osage; two brothers, Edward Kollman of Osage, and Fred Kollman of Sumner, IA; and a sister, Mrs. Laura Ellingson of Osage. Janyce Kollman was born October 30, 1937 in Brookings, SD the daughter of Bernard and Vera (Hotchkiss) Allstot. She attended schools in St. Ansgar and Osage, and completed her schooling at NIACC in Mason City. She was united in marriage to Ronald Kollman on October 30, 1954 at the First United Methodist Church in Osage. Janyce worked at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage, which she really enjoyed. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, camping with her two dogs and loved to travel. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Osage and the Osage American Legion Auxillary. Janyce was preceded in death by her parents, one son David Kollman in 2000 and one sister in infancy. She is survived by her loving husband Ronald Kollman of Osage; two daughters Charlotte Carrison and her husband Clint of Northwood; Teresa Kleckner and her husband Tracy of Osage; one son Anthony Kollman and his wife Chris of Abbottstown, PA; one sister Mary Kay Badker and her husband Tom of Dover, MN; one brother Willard Allstot and his wife Shirley of Farmington, MN; one step-brother Jon Kinter and his wife Arlene of Riceville; 10 grandchildren Jennifer and Julie Carrison; Tara, Tanya and T.A. OBITUARY: Dorothy Sedlacek Kopploman, Mitchell County, Iowa (St. Ansgar Enterprise-Journal, St. Ansgar, Iowa; 9 JAN 1992 ) Dorothy Sedlacek Kopploman Surnames: Sedlacek, Kopploman, Bublitz, Lee, Hylden Dorothy Sedlacek Kopploman, 73, of Pomona, CA, formerly of St. Ansgar, died Saturday, Dec. 28 [1991] at home. Graveside commital services were held ... Monday at the St. Ansgar Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Otting officiating. Mrs. Kopploman was born August 22, 1918 at St. Ansgar, the daughter of Frank and Della (Hylden) Sedlacek. She was raised on a farm near St. Ansgar and then lived for a time in Chicago. March 18, 1953 she married Daniel Kopploman at St. Ansgar. They moved to California in 1957. Mr. Kopploman died August 31, 1971. Mrs. Kopploman was self employed owning several restaurants in California. OBITUARY: Edward Herman Henry Koschmeder, 1910-1981, Mitchell County, Iowa [St. Ansgar Enterprise, 24 DEC 1981] Copyrighted Edward Koschmeder Funeral Held Here Friday, December 18 Funeral services for Edward H. Koschmeder, 71, who died at the White House Nursing Home in Osage December 15, were held December 18 at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home here with the Rev. Norman Betke, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran church, officiating. Edward Herman Henry Koschmeder was born March 4, 1910 in Mitchell township, the son of Herman and Bertha Zarling Koschmeder. He was baptized May 8, 1910 at St. John's Lutheran church, Rock Township, by the Rev. G. A. Bischoff. He was confirmed March 28, 1926 at Immanuel Lutheran church here by the Rev. Paul Brammer. Mr. Koschmeder was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Alfred, Roy and George; five sisters, Miss Alma Koschmeder, Mrs. Meta McLaughlin, Mrs. Dora Trachte, Mrs. Frances Trout and Mrs. Josephine Pint. He is survived by four sisters: Mrs. Helen Pint of Osage, Mrs. Gertrude Petznick of Osage, Mrs. Harriet Loftus of Waseca, Minn. and Mrs. Julia Muller of Osage; also nieces and nephews. Robert married Carol Fieldman on June 13, 1954, at Perry, Iowa. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1956 as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. They lived in Grafton, Iowa, where he practiced veterinary medicine for over 49 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister. Robert is survived by his wife Carol Koschmeder of Grafton; a daughter Linda Dagostino and husband Rick McBride of Grafton; two sons, Curtis Koschmeder and his wife Teresa of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and Kevin Koschmeder and his wife Sarah of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin; a sister, Marian Weldin of Williams, Iowa; six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. OBITUARY: Shirley (Thurnau) Koschmeder Hartwig, 1925-2006, Mitchell Co., Iowa [ Original version posted Feb. 1, 2006 on www.mcpress.com ] Shirley Koschmeder Hartwig Funeral services for Shirley Koschmeder Hartwig, 80, of Hamel, Minnesota, and formerly of Osage, Iowa, were held Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage, with Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Interment was at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Mitchell, Iowa. Shirley passed away Thursday, January 26, 2006, in Hamel, at the home of her daughter, Kim Dykhoff-Green, where she had made her home for the last seven years. Shirley was born March 10, 1925, in Austin, Minn., the daughter of John and Christena (Adams) Thurnau. She lived in the Brownville area in her early years. She was united in marriage to Melvin Koschmeder on August 22, 1940. He passed away in 1974. Shirley worked at Cedar Valley Produce, and in later years as a baker at Jack and Jill Grocery Store in Osage. She later married Edward Hartwig. He passed away in 1978. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; and one brother, Albert Thurnau. Shirley is survived by her four children: Leota (Amil) Felper of Riceville, Janice (Doug) Wall of Maple Plain, Minn., Michael (Kathy) Koschmeder of Rogers, Minn., Kim (Jim) Dykhoff-Green of Hamel, Minn.; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leslie (Sue) Thurnau of Osage, and John (Olga) Thurnau of St. Ansgar; and one sister Ruth (Archie) Rasmussen of Mason City. OBITUARY: Elsie Sophia (Arp) Koster, 1899-1981, Mitchell County, Iowa [St. Ansgar Enterprise, 2 APR 1981] Mrs. Louis Koster Funeral Held Here Saturday, March 28 Funeral services for Mrs. Louis H. Koster, 81, who died at her home in St. Ansgar March 25, were held March 28 at the St. Ansgar United Methodist church with the Rev. Wittern officiating. Elsie Sophia Koster was born December 2, 1899 in Traer, the daughter of Julius and Mary Arp. As a young girl she came with her family to live on a farm near Osage. She married Louis H. Koster February 18, 1922. Five children were born to them. The Koster family farmed east of St. Ansgar until retiring to St. Ansgar in 1951. Mrs. Koster is survived by her husband, Louis; two daughters, Mrs. Al (Neva) Toppin of Rudd and Mrs. Richard (Donna) Hyland of Hayfield, Minn.; one son, Darwin of St. Ansgar; a brother, Ed Arp of Osage; 16 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sons, Marlin and Delmer. Burial was in the Osage cemetery with Rev. Wittern in charge of the committal services. Koster, Lorraine (Ruechel) 1922-2002

OBITUARY: Lorraine Ruechel Hartwig Koster 1922-2002, Mitchell County, Iowa Lorraine Hartwig Koster [Mitchell County Press online - Posted Oct. 30, 2002] Funeral services were held for Lorraine Hartwig Koster, age 80, of St. Ansgar, IA on Friday, Oct. 25, 2002 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar. Pastor Byron Northwick officiated. Burial was in Newburg Cemetery, Carpenter, IA. She died Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, at the Good Samaritan Center, St. Ansgar, IA where she resided for the past six years. Lorraine was born Sept. 3, 1922 to Alvin and Josephine (Rosenberg) Ruechel and grew up on a farm near Carpenter. She graduated from Carpenter High School in 1940. She then married Raymond Hartwig and lived on the Hartwig family farm south of Otranto where they raised six children. Lorraine loved living on the farm where she grew flowers and had a large garden. She loved the outdoors and looked forward to yearly family fishing trips in northern Minnesota. Music was a great joy to her. She looked forward to participating in "The Messiah" at Easter and was active in the church choir. She enjoyed Ladies Aid and quilting with her fellow church members. Raymond Hartwig passed away in Feburary 1971 and Lorraine then moved into St. Ansgar. She married Al Koster in 1973. He passed away in 1993. Lorraine worked as a waitress at the Maple Inn Cafe in Osage for several years where she enjoyed meeting new people and visiting with her customers. Preceding her in death were her beloved daughter, Audrey Miller, who died on Oct. 20, 1987, her two husbands, her parents and brother Wayne Ruechel. The greatest joys in her life were her faith and her family. Those thankful for sharing in her life are her children Arlynn of Davenport, Andy and wife Susan of Northwood, Craig and wife Nancy of Port Orchard, WA, Michael of Des Moines, Connie of Dunkerton, son-in-law Duane Miller and wife Mary Ann of Stillwater, MN, 14 grandchildren: Cathi, Lisa, Tom, Kerry, Natalee, Julia, Eric, Jenny, Aaron, Brent, Matthew, Katherine, Johanna and Ethan, four great-grandchildren: Chase, Madeline, Evan and Nathan, her sister Marlene and husband Darold Yost of LeRoy, MN and nine stepchildren.
