Green McIllnay, Gertrude 1915-c1966

OBITUARY: Gertrude (Green) McIllnay, 1915-c1966, Mitchell County, Iowa MRS. VELMER MCILLNAY DIED IN CHICAGO Funeral services were held March 3, for Gertrude McIllnay, 50, who died March 1, at a Chicago hospital. She was hospitalized four weeks. Mrs. McIllnay and her husband, Velmer, were former Osage residents. Services were held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Chicago and burial was in a cemetery there. Gertrude Green was born near Glenwood, Minn., Aug. 29, 1915. She attended the rural schools and was graduated from Osage high school with the class of 1933. Her marriage to Velmar McIllnay took place in Chicago Nov. 3, 1941. They established their home there, and have lived in the same house. Surviving are: her husband, Velmer; one son James; two daughters, Joan and Elizabeth, at home; one sister, Mrs. Cordelia Hacker of Chicago, and one brother Anton Green of Sheboygan, Wis. Green, Marshal 1936-2004

OBITUARY: Marshal Raymond "Snerd" Green, 1936-2004, Mitchell Co., Iowa [Adapted from: Mitchell County-Press-News online - March 31, 2004] Marshal Raymond "Snerd" Green Marshal Raymond "Snerd" Green, 68, of Osage, Iowa, died Sunday evening, March 28, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center following a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial services were held Thursday, April 1, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Mark Reasoner officiating. Inurnment will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church cemetery. Marshal was born March 19, 1936 in New Haven, Iowa, the son of Paul and Marjorie (Weinschenk) Green. He married Helen Walter on April 4, 1959 in Austin, Minnesota. Marshal worked as contractor carpenter for many years in Osage area. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage and was a Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He used his skills as a carpenter to help Habitat for Humanity. Marshal is survived by his wife, Helen of Osage, his mother, Marjorie Green of Stacyville, Iowa, four daughters, Marsha Stricker and husband Mike and Mary Jo Ruehlow and husband Steve all of Osage, Marlys Wells and husband Jim of Boone, Iowa, and Jackie McManus and husband Brad of Des Moines, and a son, Jim Green of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Marshal dearly loved all of his grandkids, Jerad and Shannon Stricker and Amber, Ashlyn and Alex Ruehlow all of Osage, Chloe and Sam Wells of Boone, Iowa, and Alyssa and Derek McManus of Des Moines. Also surviving are three sisters, Dona Kubicek and husband Pete of Osage, Sue Gouchee and husband Chic of Cedar Rapids and Helen Rogers and husband Allen of St. Ansgar, Iowa, and a brother Bill Green and wife Sharon of Waterloo, Iowa, as well as many nieces, nephews, and close family friends. He was preceded in death by his father Paul Green and a nephew Kent Kubicek. Arrangements by Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa. Green Earl, Monica (Bissen) 1914-2000

OBITUARY: Monica (Bissen) (Green) Earl, 1914-2000, Mitchell County, Iowa Monica Earl Monica Earl, 85, of Stacyville, Iowa, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage, Iowa. She was born April 25, 1914, near Stacyville, the daughter of John and Mary (Curry) Hofmeister. She recieved her education at Visitation Catholic School in Stacyville, graduating in 1932. She married Ralph Green on April 15, 1936, in Stacyville; he died in 1951. She then married George C. Earl on Oct. 15, 1960, in Stacyville; he died in 1993. She lived in Stacyville her entire life. She was employed by Dr. T.E. Blong and Dr. Robert Smith, and later was the bookeeper for the Stacyville Coop Creamery. She was a member of the Christian Mothers. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, shopping and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by a daughter, Theresa (Leon) Hackenmiller, Stacyville; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two stepdaughteers, Carol (Paul) Colburn, Waukesha, Wis., and Jane (Dick) Fossum, Big Bend, Wis.; a stepson, Frank Earl, Ankeny; 10 stepgrandchildren; and eight stepgreat- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands Ralph Green and George C. Earl, a daughter, Pat Kramer and son-in-law Leonard Kramer, three brothers and an infant sister. Services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville with the Father Joseph Schneider officiating. Interment was in Visitation Catholic Cemetery. OBITUARY: Dorothy Elizabeth Leona Kirchgatter Greiner, Mitchell County, Iowa [St. Ansgar Enterprise, 1 JAN 1981] Mrs. William Greiner Funeral Held Here Friday, December 26 Funeral services for Mrs. William Greiner, 71, of St. Ansgar, who died December 24 at St. Joseph Mercy hospital in Mason City, were held December 26 at the Immanuel Lutheran church here with the Rev. Norman Betke officiating. Dorothy Elizabeth Leona Kirchgatter Greiner was born October 30, 1909 in Worth county, south of Carpenter, the daughter of Henry C. and Theresa (Jadecka) Kirchgatter. She was baptized January 30, 1910 at the Emmanuel Lutheran church in Grafton by the Rev. John T. Landdecke. She was confirmed at the Emmanuel Lutheran church in Grafton April 15, 1924 by the Rev. Carl Landdeck. She attended and was graduated from the Carpenter school. June 28, 1928 she married William Greiner in Austin, Minn. with the Rev. Milbrath officiating. Three children were born to them. The Greiners were engaged in farming in Mitchell county, and moved to St. Ansgar in 1976. They became members of the Immanuel Lutheran church in St. Ansgar in 1978. Mrs. Greiner is survived by her husband, William; two daughters and a son, Mrs. Edwin (Maxine) Steinberg of St. Ansgar, E. W. "Bud" Greiner of St. Ansgar, and Mrs. Robert (Vaneta) Wilson of Mason City; four grandchildren, James Sayles of Mankato, Minn., Tom and Lori Wilson of Mason City and David Steinberg of St. Ansgar; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Rosenberg of Grafton and Mrs. Rose Borchardt of Carpenter and nieces, nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mrs. Theresa Kroneman. Burial was in the St. Ansgar cemetery with Rev. Betke in charge of the committal services. Greiner, Robert 1916-1991

OBITUARY: Robert Leo Greiner, Mitchell County, Iowa (St. Ansgar Enterprise, 9 MAY 1991) Robert Leo Greiner [1916-1991] Funeral services for Robert Leo Greiner, 75, of Austin, Minnesota, who died Thursday, April 25 in a pickup accident south of Austin, Minnesota on highway 105, were held Monday, April 29 at the First Baptist Church in Austin with the Rev. Allan Flint officiating. Bob Greiner was born March 20, 1916 in Floris County to Elsmore and Cora Mae (Copeland) Greiner. At the age of six he moved with his family to the Carpenter area where he grew up on a farm southwest of there and attended Carpenter school. June 25, 1938, he was married to Blanche Bedford of Lyle in the Little Brown Church at Nashua. To that union were born four daughters. He had worked for the George A. Hormel and Company for 33 years upon retirement. In 1946 he accepted the Lord as Savior and was baptized in August of 1947. He attended Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Lyle until 1965. For the past 26 years he was an active member in the First Baptist Church in Austin. he was president of faith Bible class and a board member of the Woodbury Cemetery Association. He is survived by his wife, Blanche of Austin, Minnesota; four daughters, Mrs. Hilmore (Georgia) Williams; Mrs. Richard (Betty) Grinstead, Mrs. Warren (Bonny) Troavs and Rebecca Pepper of Austin, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; six sisters, Inez L. Huber, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Ruth Belz of Annadale, Minn.; Hazel Petznick of Fairfield, Wisc., Faye Severson of Austin, Minn., Dorothy Hulshizer of Maustom, Wisc.,and Louise Kirchgatter of St. Ansgar,; five brothers, Louis of Oklahoma City, Okla., William of St. Ansgar, Glen of Hernando, Florida, Verlin of Pauls Valley, Calif., and James of Mason City. State St., died Tuesday (Nov. 26, 1991) at Good Shepherd Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Ernest Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar. Friends may call from 2:30 to 9 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 209 Second St. N.E. Memorial Contributions may be given to Alzheimer's Association, Heart of Iowa Chapter, P.O. Box 1523, Welch Ave. Station, Ames, Iowa 50010. Mrs. Grell was born Dec. 19, 1909, in St. Ansgar, the daughter of George A. and Anna Helena (Tollefson) Halvorson. She graduated from St. Ansgar High School, St. Ansgar, Iowa. She then attended and graduated from Hamilton Business College in Mason City. She served as Deputy County Treasurer for Cerro Gordo County from 1950 until her retirement in 1974. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Survivors include three sons, James A. Grell and wife, Ruth, Flossmoor, Illinois, Donald L. Grell and wife, Cheri, Burlington, N.C., and Robert A. Grell and wife, Roberta, Amarillo, Texas; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Press-News - Posted Nov. 27, 2002 - www.mcpress.com ] Private family funeral services were held for Mildred Margaret Caffrey, 89, formerly of McIntire, on Monday, November 25, 2002 at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville, IA. Reverend Michael Carey officiated. Burial was in Clear Lake Cemetery in Clear Lake, IA. Mildred died Saturday, November 23, 2002 at the Riceville Community Rest Home in Riceville, IA. Mildred was born July 16, 1913 at Ventura, IA to John C. and Maude Thomas Grell. She attended school at Ventura Consolidated School and graduated in 1931. After graduating she attended Iowa State Teacher's College and taught in a rural school during the 1931-32 school year. She was married to Virgil Caffrey of Swaledale, IA on August 5, 1933 at New Hampton, IA and to this union two daughters Leora and Geri were born. During the teacher shortage she returned to college and taught for 35 years including schools in Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas and Minnesota - the last 19 years at Caledonia, MN. Virgil Caffrey passed away in 1967 and she continued to live in McIntire until her death. She loved flowers and her yard was a place of beauty. She was an ardent quilter and made quilts for her entire family. Preceding Mildred in death were her parents, husband, two brothers Carl and Walter Grell, three sisters Alice Barton, Nettie Zook and Cora Spurrier, a step-son Darrell Caffrey and two granddaughters Becky and Diane Martin. Her survivors include two daughters Leora Huddleston of McIntire, IA and Geri Martin of Schaller, IA, seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and a sister ruby Barlow of Mason City, IA. Grettenberg, Charles

OBITUARY: Charles Grettenberg, Mitchell County, Iowa Chas. Grettenberg Killed A Terrible Disaster at Butte, Montana, in Which 100 Lose Their Lives. A telegram from Butte, Montana, brought the sad news yesterday morning that Charles Grettenberg had been killed on Tuesday night by an explosion. From his brother, Howard, who was in Osage when the news was received we learn that Charlie had written them last week that he was getting along very nicely and recovering rapidly from a injury he had received some time in December. By falling from a building his head had been badly cut and his shoulder broken, so that he had been wearing a plaster paris case, but expected to take it off in a few days. The young man was a tinner by trade and the employee of the Butte Hardware Company. Mr. Grettenberg was the son of Henry Grettenberg of Mitchell and a nephew of S. E. Grettenberg of this city. The remains will probably be sent to the home of this parents for burial, reaching there by Saturday. How the accident occurred was not mentioned in the message, but the associate press dispatches give the following particulars, declaring the catastrophe the worst of its kind in the history of the west: BUTTE: Montana, January 15.-- A fire occured in the Butte Hardware Company's warehouse tonight in which powder was stored. The fire department was a work on the fire when an explosion took place killing a number of people. While efforts were being made to remove the dead and wounded a second explosion occured. The entire fire department was wiped out, including the chief and all the horses. Three policeman are among the killed, who number at least seventy-five. Plate glass was broken all over the city, and the damage to property is enormous. It is impossible to get details at present. All ambulances are rushing to and from the . . . . Grguric, Theresa 1920-2004

OBITUARY: Theresa Grguric, 1920-2004, Mitchell Co., Iowa [Adapted from Mitchell County Press online - Posted Feb. 11, 2004] Theresa Grguric A Mass of Christian Burial for Theresa Grguric, age 84, of Osage, Iowa, and formerly of Chicago, will be held at 9:30 am Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004 at St. Symphorosa Catholic Church in Chicago, Illinois, with interment in the Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Westchester, Illinois. Theresa died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004 at the Faith Home in Osage. Theresa was born on Jan. 21, 1920 to Franz and Marija (Nadler) Wahl, in Vocin, Yugoslavia. She was united in marriage to Frank Grguric on Aug. 28, 1935 in Vocin, Yugoslavia. In 1941 during World War II, while her husband was in the Army, Theresa, her three daughters and Theresa's parents had to leave their farm in Croatia and eventually settled in Austria. The family imigrated to the United States in 1952 under a sponsorship program. They farmed in the Ossian and Roseville area and moved to Des Moines in 1955. Frank and Theresa lived in Des Moines until 1964, when they moved to Chicago. Theresa was employed for many years at Mrs. Grass Noodle Soup Company, until her retirement. Frank died in 1978. Theresa moved to the Faith Home in October of 2002. Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank Grguric in 1978 and great-grandson Jonathan Grenko. Her survivors include two daughters Theresa Pragovich (Anthony) of Lemont, Illinois, and their son Anthony Pragovich (Mary) and their children, Stephen, Elizabeth and Anthony of Lockport, Illinois, Rose Grenko of Des Moines and her children John Grenko (Deb) and their daughters Ashley, Katie and Maggie of Des Moines, Marilyn Cole (Don) and their daughter Lindsey of Longmont, Colorado, Joey Grenko, Andy Grenko and Mary Jane Grenko all of Des Moines, Margaret Smolik (Gary) of Osage and their children Sister Katherine Ann, OSB, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Frank Smolik (Becky) and their daughter Megan of Colorado Springs, Coloado, Mark Smolik of Floyd, Michael Smolik of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Griffith, 57, of Harrisburg, Penn., who died at a Harrisburg hospital Friday, Nov. 16, were held Tuesday, November 20 at the First Lutheran church here with the Rev. Stephen Engelstad officiating. Mr. Griffith was the owner of Jetson Manufacturing Co. in Harrisburg. Penn., and was formerly Agency Manager for Bankers Life of Iowa in Harrisburg. He had served as president of his church council, superintendent of the adult church Sunday School, and was active in civic affairs. He was a former Mason City resident. He is survived by his wife, Edith; two daughters, Mrs. David (Janis) Lueking of Austin, Ind. and Mrs. Larry (Claudia) Krissinger of Clarksville, Tenn., three grandchildren, Mark, Daniel and Amanda; two brothers, Donald of Des Moines and Richard of Waterloo; nieces and nephews. Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery here, with the Rev. Engelstad in charge of committal services. Military honors were presented by Walter T. Enneberg Post 358 of the American Legion. Griga, Edwin 1914-2001

OBITUARY: Edwin B. Griga, Mitchell County, Iowa [Mitchell County Press-News online, www.mcpress.com -- Oct. 24, 2001] Edwin B. Griga Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 25, 2001 at 1:30 in the afternoon at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Osage, for Edwin B. Griga, age 87, of Osage. Rev. Dennis Hanson and Rev. Roy Ott will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Mitchell, IA. Edwin died Monday, October 22, 2001 at Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Wednesday evening at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, 720 State Street, Osage and one hour at the church on Thursday prior to the service. Edwin was born March 9, 1914 the son of Martin and Anna (Valek) Griga at Austin, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church in Greene, IA. He received his education in Mitchell County Schools. On February 12, 1938 he was united in marriage with Anna Marie Bakkum at the Osage Lutheran Church with Pastor T. Solem officiating. To this union, one daughter, Joyce Ann, was born. Edwin spent most of his adult life in Mitchell County. He worked as a day laborer in the onion fields and working for local farmers. In 1966, they moved to their home east of Little Cedar retiring in 1979. Ed’s interests and hobbies were fishing, gardening and helping care for his family and friends whom he loved visiting with. Edwin and his wife were active in the Faith Lutheran Church in Mitchell. In 1998 he transferred his membership to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage. In June of 1997, unable to live alone, Ed then lived with Zella Boggess who was a life-long friend for over 50 years. Edwin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anna Marie and three brothers, Louis, Rudolph and Frank. Those that mourn the loss of a dear friend, father, grandfather and other family members are: wife Zella Boggess of Osage; daughter, Joyce Clayton and husband David of Clear Lake; two granddaughters, Karen Bast and husband Ron of Armstrong and Janiece Martindale and husband James of Alabama; three grandsons, Jim Naber of Waterloo, Kenneth Naber of Oregon and Kirk Naber of Boone, IA and several great-grandchildren. After meeting Zella, her children became very special to him: three daughters, Judy Wambeam and husband Rodger of Austin, MN, Karen Rodemaker and husband Fred of Northwood, Annette Olesen and husband James of Rudd; two sons, Gary Tidemanson of Charles City and Carl Tidemanson and wife Mary of Greene; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Private services were held with the Rev. Newland officiating, and burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery in Mitchell. Florence was born Nov. 21, 1911, in Sac City. Survivors include one son, Gary Griga of Charles City; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three stepdaughters, Lucille Werner of Osage, Kathleen Hemann of Osage, and Bernice Runde of Riceville; two stepsons, Ralph Milbrandt of Grafton, and Robert Milbrandt of Rochester, Minn.; 32 stepgrandchildren; and numerous stepgreat-grandchildren. OBITUARY: Donna Belle (Griggs) Klemesrud, 1933-1996, Mitchell County, Iowa [From Mason City Globe Gazette, Mason City, Iowa, Sept. 24, 1996 (edited)] Donna Belle Klemesrud WEST RICHLAND, WASH.--Donna Belle Griggs Klemesrud, 62, of West Richland, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 1996, in Walla Walla, Washington. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Einan's Funeral Home, Richland. A second memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 1996, at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Osage, Iowa. Burial will be in Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery. Donna Belle Griggs Klemesrud was born on Dec. 27, 1933, in Rockford, Iowa, to Milo L. and Lenora B. (Riehm) Griggs. Donna and her husband, John Klemesrud, farmed in Iowa many years. John preceded her in death in April of 1970. In 1984, Donna moved to Tucson, Ariz., where she worked as a nurse's aide until retiring. She had lived in West Richland two years. She was a member of the Rock Creek Lutheran Church until 1988, and was currently a member of the Center for Positive Living in Kennewick. She is survived by three sons: Tracy of West Richland, Wash.; Terry of Gladbrook, Iowa, and Tim of Duncan, Ariz.; four daughters, Brenda Kelmel of West Richland, Wash.; Babette Thome of Adel, Iowa; Becky Thome and Bonny Steeves, both of Heber Springs, Ark.; 19 grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; and one sister, Lorraine Hall of Rockford, Iowa. OBITUARY: James T. Grimm, 1924-2004, Mitchell Co., Iowa [From Mitchell County-Press-News online (Edited); posted June 23, 2004] James T. Grimm James T. Grimm, 80, of 3275 Valley Ave, Orchard, Iowa, died Saturday, June 19, 2004 at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital, Charles City, Iowa. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Charles City. Pastor David Werges officiated. Burial was in Sunnyside Memorial Gardens. James Thomas Grimm was born May 19, 1924 in Chester, Iowa, the son of Charles and Caroline (Marik) Grimm. He attended school in Colwell, and on August 15, 1943 he was united in marriage to Annabelle Koebrick at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple farmed in the Colwell and New Haven areas and Jim also worked at White Farm, and later as a welder building large gravity bins in Osage. Jim was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church and a member of the Farm Bureau. Jim enjoyed welding, woodworking, and building many birdhouses. Jim also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins on television, country music and dancing "The Jig." Jim is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Annabelle Grimm of rural New Haven, his children: Beverly (Robert) Friend of Charles City, Jeanne (Jim) Loomer of Greene, Roger (Judy) Grimm of Elma, LeRoy (Sue) Grimm of Independence, Carol Grimm of Osage, Kathy Kimm of Charles City, Richard (Theresa) Grimm of Osage, Robert (Shelley) Grimm of New Haven, Julie (Lawrence) Foth of Osage, and Janelle (Bill) Nuehring of Rockwell; his sister Charlene (Johnny) Lampson of Charles City; his grandchildren: James (Kari) Friend, Angela Friend, Bobbi (Dusty) Stotler, Lori Loomer-Hoodjer and friend Rob Zahnd, Kimberly Grimm and friend Diane Eyestone, Holly Grimm and friend Matt See, Ryan Grimm, Jayne Grimm, Malisa (Al) Cairo, Carrie Davidson and friend Ryan Rassmussen, Michael Davidson, Vicki (Ken) Low, Heath (Angela) Grimm, Chris Grimm, Jenny (Will) Wilson, Mindy Kimm, Matt Kimm, Nathan Frein, Jackie (Justin) Muller, Eric (Amy) Foth, Rachel (Clay) Weaver, Rebecca Beek, and Caleb Nuehring; and his great-grandchildren: Sommer Stotler; Keaton Shane, Spenser Popinga; Austin and Taylor Cairo; Stephanie, Allison, and Ryan Low; Emma Grimm; Chase, Harley, and Billy Wilson; and Brett and Cheyla Weaver. Grimm, Ralph Leonard 1950-2002

OBITUARY: Ralph Leonard Grimm, 1950-2002, Mitchell County, Iowa Ralph Leonard Grimm [Mitchell County Press-News online - Posted Dec. 11, 2002 ] Funeral services for Ralph Leonard Grimm, 52, of Osage were held Friday Dec. 6, 2002 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Osage with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and Rev. Dennis Niezwaag officiating. Interment was in the Osage Cemetery with Military Honors by Osage V.F.W. Post 7920 and Osage American Legion Post 278. Ralph died Tuesday December 3, 2002. Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. He was born in Charles City on January 25, 1950 the son of Jim and Annabelle (Koebrick) Grimm, and was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charles City in 1952. He was a 1969 graduate from Osage High School. Ralph served in the US Army in Vietnam, and was united in marriage to Carol Jeanne Schoenborn in June 1970 at Ft. Sill, OK. Following his service in the Army the couple returned to Osage where they farmed. He was employed at Spahn & Rose Lumber Company for the past 30 years. He was a member of the Osage V.F.W. and Osage American Legion. Ralph was an avid wrestling fan, and participated in the Iowa High School State Wrestling tournament. His passion for the sport had a great influence on his sons wrestling careers. He was well known in the area for his lawn work with his Ford 8N tractors which he collected. Ralph was well known for his generosity and his willingness to help anyone at anytime. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and other relatives. He is survived by his wife Carol Grimm of Osage; one daughter Vicki Fox and fiance Kenny Low of Osage and his children Stephanie, Allison and Ryan; two sons, Heath Grimm and his wife Angela of Fayette and Chris Grimm of Osage; his parents Jim and Annabelle Grimm of rural New Haven; five sisters, Beverly Friend (Bob) of Charles City, Jeanne Loomer (Jim) of Greene, Kathy Kimm (Kevin) of Charles City, Julie Foth (Lawrence) of Osage, and Janelle Nuehring (Bill) of Rockwell; four brothers, Roger Grimm (Judy) of Elma, LeRoy Grimm (Sue) of Independence, Richard Grimm (Theresa) of Osage, Robert Grimm (Shelley) of New Haven numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; father and mother-in-law Don and Claire Schoenborn of Osage; brother and sister-in-law Dar and Geri Thompson of St. Ansgar; sister-in-law Mary Kay Schoenborn and special friend Mike of Clear Lake; brother and sister-in-law Ed Schoenborn (Janna) Santee, CA. She passed away Monday, October 22, 2001 at Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Hospice Unit, Osage. Barbara was born Feb. 11, 1936 in Osage the daughter of Arthur and Ester (O'Brian) Witzel. She was united in marriage to James A. Grinstead on Aug. 25, 1953 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, where they renewed their vows annually for the next 48 years. Barbara was a lifelong resident of Osage where she owned and operated the Grinstead Locker with her husband and son, Brian, until 1994. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Frances; and a son-in-law, Dale Heimer. Rev. Ron Brannon officiated and interment followed at the Whitesboro Cemetery under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home, Talihina, OK. She died Aug. 25, 2001 at Tulsa, OK. Hazel was born Sept. 28, 1922 in Baltimore Township, IA to Lewis and Ella Grinstead-Puckett. On April 7, 1945 she was married to Chester Wallace in Durant, OK. She moved to her home in Whitesboro, OK in 1978 and has resided there for the past 23 years. Hazel was a member of the Whitesboro Assembly of God Church. Preceding her in death were her parents; Lewis and Ella Puckett, her husband, Chester Wallace; and four siblings, Bill, Charles, Melvin and Francis. OBITUARY: Ronnie Gene Grinstead, 1942-2004, Mitchell Co., Iowa [Adapted from: Mitchell County-Press-News online - Posted Feb. 25, 2004 ] Ronnie Gene Grinstead A memorial service will be held at a later date for Ronnie Gene Grinstead, age 62 of Charles City. He died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004 at the V.A. Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. His body was cremated. Ronnie Grinstead was born Jan. 31, 1942 at New Hampton, Iowa. He graduated from Osage High School, Osage, Iowa, in 1960 and from Muscatine Junior College in 1969. He received a certificate from the American Red Cross for skills training for Human Services for Paraprofessionals and Module II: Casework Skills in S.A.F. and SMF & V and a special citation for exceptional volunteer service for 1990-1991 and a certificate of appreciation in support of "Operation Desert Storm," 1990-91. He married Joyce Carrol Hinders on April 7, 1995. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from June 1960 to March of 1964 as an airplane mechanic and was stationed on the U.S.S. Lexington aircraft carrier. Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Corrine Odden Grinstead and John Harvey Grinstead and a brother Jerry Grinstead. He is survived by his children Ronnie Gene Grinstead, Shelia Marie Grinstead and a grandson Devon Rashad Grinstead of Virginia; brothers Bill Grinstead of Osage; Donald (Melva) Grinstead of Lewiston, Idaho, James (Janet) Grinstead of Osage, Larry (Barbara) Grinstead of Austin, Minnesota, Richard Grinstead of Tucson, Arizona, and David Grinstead of San Gabriel, California, and sisters Suzie (Les) Thurnau of Osage, Ruth (Bill) Johnson of Riceville, Alice Grinstead of Edmond, Oklahoma, Lynda (Joe) Retterath of Eagan, Minnesota, and Cyndy (Roger) Brumm of Stacyville, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews.
