September 10, 1936
The sixth annual reunion of the Whitehead family was held Sunday, Aug. 30, at the Murray park, at Murray, Iowa. During the morning an exciting game of kittenball was enjoyed and renewing of acquaintances, and at noon a bountiful picnic dinner was served to 51 guests. A great many friends and relatives who could not be present at the dinner came in the afternoon to enjoy the short program prepared by the younger members of the families and also to be present at the business session. The following officers were elected for the coming year: President, Mercedes Whitehead; vice president, Fae Johnson; treasurer, Alice James, and secretary, Mae Whitehead.
Three births were recorded for the year: Miss Reta Rae Webber of Deaver, Why.; Donna Lynne Rickford of Deaver, Why., and Duane Lloyd Whitehead of Pacific Junction. It was voted to hold the reunion at the Murray park for the coming year. Following the program a group of contests and another game of kittenball ended a most pleasant day for all who were fortunate enough to be present.
Those attending the reunion from Mills county were Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Whitehead and daughters Mae Edna and Frances and sons Leonard and Donald, of Silver City; Mr. and Mrs. John Whitehead and sons Gilbert, Leroy, Dean, Everett and Duane of Pacific Junction; Mrs. Dora Alley and sons James and Dallas of Tabor, and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Files of Glenwood.
