Four well known pioneers of Mills county were the Summers brothers, Milton, Harvey, J.N., and W.G. Summers, all of whom lived down in White Cloud township. All are dead now, but last Sunday their descendants and relatives to the number of eighty gathered at the old W.G. Summers homestead, now occupied by his son, Chas. H., and held their annual reunion and picnic. Also among these were descendants of their sister, Mrs. Perdue.
They had a great day down on the old home place and it passed very quickly with the big picnic dinner at noon and then visiting and reminiscing of old times afterward.
Among those present were families of the descendants of W.G. Summers: Grant, Chas. H., Willis, V.A., Mr. Kate Lewis, and Mrs. Roe Hixson, and the daughters of Mrs. Alice Chantry; Edith Davison and Ethel Hurlbutt.
