PURCELL FAMILY REUNION HELD AT LAKE PARK SUNDAY
SOME 75 MEMBERS OF WELL KNOWN PIONEER FAMILY OF THIS COUNTY ENJOYED FIRST FAMILY REUNION AT THE LAKE PARK SUNDAY.

Some 75 members of the Purcell family enjoyed a reunion at the Glenwood Lake Park Sunday. They came with well filled baskets and the dinner at noon consisted of all those delicacies which goes to make up a royal feast for such a gathering as this.

The Purcell family is one of the pioneer families of which this county can be proud. They settled in an early day in and around Hastings and as the family has grown in number it has brought with it a credit to the name. Cousins who had not seen each other in thirty years renewed acquaintances at this gathering Sunday and there was an expressed sentiment that this should be an annual affair in which all present concurred. Members of the family present on this occasion were as follows; Mrs. Jennie Purcell, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Purcell and daughter, Marjorie, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Purcell and daughter, Phyllis Joyce, Donald and Dick Purcell, all of Shenandoah; Mr. and Mrs. G.S. Purcell, Gordon and Maxine, Mrs. Alta Cary, Boney and Gale, Mr. and Mrs. Will Bright, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Purcell, all of Council Bluffs; Mr. and Mrs. Galen Boles and son, Max Glen, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Boles and son, Herbert, all of Malvern; Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Henderson and Charles and Anna Mae, Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Henderson, Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Rose and son Paul Edgar, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Boles and Gladys, Marie and George, all of Glenwood, Ia.; Mrs. Mable Bader, Monticella, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Achenbach, Strahan; Mr. and Mrs. C.O. Cozad, Mr. and Mrs. F.J. Oswald and Faye, all of Red Oak; Miss Nellie Henderson; Mr. and Mrs. F.B. Henderson and Mildred, Dorothy, Walter and Davie, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Clites and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Purcell and daughter, Evely and Marjorie, all of Hastings, Ia.; L.J. Allen and Mrs. Flora Purcell, Allen, Marion and Eugene, Sioux City, Ia.; Theresa Scott, Graceville, Minn. Among the friends present were; Mrs. B.M. Adkins, Red Oak; Mrs. Bertha Landis and family, Malvern, Ia., Harry Stone and family, Fairbury, Neb.

The Purcell family reunion was held at the Glenwood Lake Sunday, August 5, 1928. The day was ideal and the cars began coming by 11 and by 1 there were nearly seventy-five there. All brought well filled baskets with plenty of fried chicken. The time went too soon every one was so busy visiting. The only one of the older generation present was Mrs. Will Purcell of Shenandoah; also her son Mark and family and Mr. and Mrs. Achenbach of Shenandoah; Mr. and Mrs. Jess Hall and two children, Mr. and Mrs. Levern Woods of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Henderson and daughter, Mrs. Ina Oswald and Fay of Red Oak; Mr. and Mrs. Galen Purcell and son Gordon and daughter Maxine, Mrs. Alta Cary, Galen and Bonnie, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Purcell, all of Council Bluffs; Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Purcell and son Roland of Omaha; Mrs. Flora Allen and son of Sioux City; Clarence Boles and Hazel Kahra of Omaha; Margaret Achenbach of Strahan; Mrs. Cora Hittle, Mary Elsie and Mildred Van Pelt, Glenwood; from Hastings, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Purcell and daughter, Evelyn and Marjorie, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Henderson and children, Nellie Henderson, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Clites and two boys; Mr. and Mrs. Galen Boles and Max and Dorothy of Malvern; Mr. and Mrs. Charley Rose and Paul, Mr. and Mrs. Charley Henderson, son Charles and daughter Annie May, Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Boles, Gladys, Marie and George all of Glenwood. They set the day for the next reunion to be the second Sunday in August at the same place.

The Purcell family met in their reunion at the Glenwood lake Sunday, August 11. Everyone came with well filled baskets and all had a jolly time visiting and swimming.

Those present were: Mrs. Jennie Purcell and son mark and wife and daughters and Mr. and Mrs. Achenbach of Shenandoah, Mrs. Charley Purcell, Mr. and Mrs. Galen Purcell and son Gordon, Mrs. Alta Cary and two children, Mrs. Floyd Purcell and Marjorie Purcell all of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Flora Allen of Sioux City, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Purcell, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Henderson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Clites and children, all of Hastings; Evelyn Purcell from Corning; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Martin, Malvern; Charley Henderson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Rose and son Paul, Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Boles and daughters Gladys and Marie all of Glenwood, W.C. Pace of Glenwood an old time friend, enjoyed the day with the family.
