OLD SETTLERS REUNION HELD FRIDAY
Over 200 Attend 53rd Annual Meeting of Pioneer Families

Gathering at Glenwood Friday were over 200 persons, members of pioneer families of Mills, Fremont and Pottawattamie counties for the 53 annual reunion.
Next year's reunion will be held in Macedonia as was the first one ever held.
C.T. Genung, president of the association presided over the program, which consisted of an opening musical selection by the Institution orchestra,
invocation by Rev. E.E. Goodrich, a welcome by Major D.W. Harman of Glenwood, response by A.L. Chantry of Sidney, vocal solo by W.H.T. Wellons and the principal address by Whitney Gilliland.
Mr. Gillilland gave a resume of the history of the three counties including the colorful highlights of John Brown's activities in connection with the "Underground Railroad" at Tabor.
Other talks were made by John P. Tinley and Chas. Beno of Council Bluffs.
Taylor Davis was the oldest man present and Mrs. Minnie McCoy of Glenwood and Mrs. T.J. Moore of Tabor were the oldest women present.
Officers elected for the coming year are: Willoughby Dye Sr., Macedonia, president; A.L. Chantry of Sidney, vice president; A.H. Smith, Macedonia, secretary and treasurer.
The Southwest Iowa Pioneer association will hold its meeting at Shenandoah Oct. 7. It will consist of a Centennial pageant, parade and display of relics.
