MCCLUSKEY FAMILY CELEBRATE FIVE GENERATION REUNION
Glenwood Opinion Tribune
July 18, 1946

Recently the Dr. F.M. McCluskey family of Glenwood celebrated a reunion of five generations within the family when members gathered in Glenwood from both the east and west coasts.

Mrs. Jennie B. McCluskey, pioneer resident of Glenwood who is 93 years of age, and her great grandson I. Simms II, 21 month son of Mrs. Shirley McCluskey Simms from Charlotte, South Carolina, granddaughter of Dr. F.M. McCluskey, were two honor members of the family at the five generation celebration.

J.S. McCluskey, from San Francisco, Calif., and the third generation of the family, is the son of Dr. F.M. McCluskey of Glenwood.

The present first generation of the family was born in 1853 at Nassau, Bahama Island, Mrs. Jennie B. McCluskey and her husband, the former Dr. M.H. McCluskey of Glenwood, settled here in 1869.

Her husband, Dr. M.H. McCluskey, was the first dentist to practice in Glenwood. His laboratory was at the year of the old Dean and McCluskey Drug store.

Dr. F.M. McCluskey recalls many of his father's early dentistry hardships and frontiering in Glenwood. Several times a week his father traveled by foot from Glenwood to Pacific Junction, and even as far as Weeping Water, Neb. to care for his patients.

Remarking of the modern dentistry equipment and conveniences, Dr. F.M. McCluskey said one day his father advertised that "new fittings" had been added to his business, and when asked what the new fittings were, the late Dr. M.H. McCluskey said he "just swept out the dentist room."
