MAYBERRY FAMILY

MAYBERRY'S FIRST REUNION

Descendants of Well Known Family Gather at Glenwood Lake Park for First Reunion, Royal Spread and Happy Time. On Sunday, September 3, in Glenwood Lake park was held the first reunion of the well known Mayberry families. It was a happy gathering and the Tribune editor regrets that circumstances prevented him from mingling with the representatives of this pioneer family and enjoying that royal dinner with fried chicken as the piece de resistance.

In that gathering were above four score members of the family. This large number enjoyed the dinner served cafeteria style. All of the members of the family living in and about Glenwood were present. Relatives living at a distance were present from Colorado and from other towns in this county.

Those who enjoyed that reunion were Mrs. Daugherty of Sedgwick, Colo.; Mrs. Mittie Lounsberry of Holyoke, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Dave Breeling and Mr. and Mrs. Linn Edwards and children of Little Sioux, Ia., Mr. and Mrs. Perry Bayes and family of Strahan; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Clark and family of Malvern; Mr. and Mrs. John Garrett and son and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Yates of Tabor. From in and about Glenwood came Mr. and Mrs. A. Mayberry, Mrs. J.H. Mayberry, Guy Mayberry and daughter Helen, Mr. and Mrs. George Schade and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Van Orsdel and son, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Sawyer and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Haines and family, Mr. and Mrs. Art Evans and family, Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Evans and family, Mr. and Mrs. H.C. MAYBERRY FAMILY REUNION THURSDAY
Glenwood Opinion
August 22, 1923

Upwards of One Hundred Relatives Enjoyed Reunion and Picnic at the Lake Park Thursday, Many Were Here From Afar. Thursday of last week a jolly family gathering and picnic dinner was held at the lake park. It was the second annual Mayberry family reunion which was celebrated on this day and relatives from a distance were present which added much to the pleasure of the event.

A sumptuous dinner was served at the noon hour in the new dining pavilion at the park after which a jolly afternoon was spent in conversation and games. We understand the horse-shoe pitching tournament consumed the attention of most of the men and added zest to the occasion.

The list of those present as related to us by one who was there is as follows: Mr. and Mrs. David Breeling Sr., Mr. and Mrs. L. Edmonds and Mr. and Mrs. David Breeling Jr. and family all of Little Sioux, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Dougherty of Lincoln and Mrs. Blunt of Holyoke, Colo., Mr. and Mrs. Yates, Mrs. Fred Clark and family of Tabor, and the A. Breeling family of Hastings, and from this city and vicinity there were present, Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Ross and family, Mr. and Mrs. A. Mayberry, Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon Boyer and family, Mrs. Lucinda Boyer and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Boyer and children, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Schade and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Schade, Mrs. Chas. Burson and family, Guy Mayberry and daughter Helen, and Mrs. Harvey Mayberry, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Van Ausdale, Ralph Mayberry and family, Mrs. Emma Mayberry and daughters, Misses Lois and Clara, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Evans, Mr. and Mrs. H.A. Evans and family, Mr. and Mrs. Art Evans and family and Kelley Evans, Mr. and Mrs. Grover Mayberry and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Kempton of Tabor.

The number in all exceeded one hundred despite the rather cold and threatening weather which was offset by the warmth of goodfellowship which was paramount in this jolly family gathering.

The honor guest of the day by reason of her seniority was Mrs. Harvey Mayberry who enjoyed the day as keenly as did any of the young people and looks forward to the repetition of the happy affair next year.
