Malvern Leader
September 1, 1932
Seventy members of the Ferrel clan met Sunday at the Frank Ferrel home in Randolph to observe their annual picnic and reunion. Representatives of the numerous branches of this family
of pioneers came to this reunion from Omaha, Shenandoah, Council Bluffs, St. Joe, Sidney, Anderson, Tabor, Silver City, Farragut, Hamburg, and Essex. Clark Memorial park was selected
as the most desirable place for such a gathering. So to this beauty spot near the Frank Ferrel home with baskets of food the assembled guests wended their way.
Ball games, horse shoe pitching, foot races and picnic dinner followed by speeches from the older members with election of officers took up the time for the day. Officers for the coming year are:
president, Bertha Rue, Sidney; vice president, Zetta Vaughn, Shenandoah; secretary and treasurer, Veta Myers, Silver City. It was unanimously agreed to meet each year in Randolph as it is the most
centrally located place. Peyton Ferrell was elected honorary member, he being the eldest of the Ferrels present.
