August 27, 1925
Some 150 Descendants of Richard Estes Who Settled in Rawles Township in 1852 Met in First Annual Reunion

The Glenwood Lake park was the scene of another pleasant family gathering on last Sunday, August 23 at which time the members of the Estes families met in their first reunion. It was in the year of 1852 that Richard Estes came to this county settling on a farm in Rawles township. His descendants number among them many of our most prominent and influential men and women of this part of Mills county. There were in the neighborhood of 150 persons present on this occasion many of whom came from distance, three states being represented in the gathering.

So pleasant a time did these good people have together that it was decided to designate this as the first annual reunion of the Estes families. An organization was perfected and the following officers were elected: President, George W. Estes, Tabor; vice president, Mrs. H.W. Seeger, Tabor; secretary, Mrs. Fay Wright, Glenwood; treasurer, Mrs. E.M. Collins, Glenwood.
