DELAVAN FAMILY REUNION HELD AT PLEASANT HILL
Glenwood Opinion Tribune
September, 2, 1926
There was a happy gathering of the H.N. Delavan family at the Pleasant Hill church grove last Thursday, four and one-half miles northwest of Tabor.
All of Mr. and Mrs. Delavan’s children being present, Mrs. Clara Tipple being here from Yakima, Was., and Miss Lizzie Harrison from Whiting, Iowa made the family circle complete,
as the other three children, Mrs. Gartie Hodges, Charles M. and Nelson all reside in and near Tabor, at which place has been Mr. and Mrs. Delavan’s home since retiring from their farm.
So to celebrate the occasion a picnic dinner was planned and spread beneath the nice shade, all present bringing well filled baskets and all did ample justice to the fried chicken, salads,
pies, cakes, pickles, fruit, candy and other good things too numerous to mention. The day was spent visiting and recalling old times.
In addition to the immediate family were the grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Orton Kier, Mr. and Mrs. Patrick, Maxine Delavan, Alfred Delavan, Mrs. Ed Lahr, Mrs. Clifford Gunsolley and Edith,
Ivan, Austin, Rodney, Raymond, Nelson, Lois and Lena Harrison, Miss Belva, Roscoe and Ferris Tipple and Wayne and Wallace Hodges being unable to attend. The great grandchildren present
were Laura Lee Kier, Joy Lahr, Loraine Hodges, Julaine Gunsolley and Alfred and Phillip Patrick. Little Norma Jean Tipple being unable to attend. Other relatives attending the picnic were
Mrs. Semantha Linville, sister of Mr. Delavan, Mr. and Mrs. Ivory Linville and daughter Cuba, Mr. and Mrs. Wade Delavan and son, Darwin, Mr. and Mrs. Emmet Delavan and daughter,
Emma, Mr. and Mrs. George Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Garrett and children George and Virginia.
