A pleasant reunion of relatives, descendants of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Chantry, took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H.T. Beattie in Malvern, Wednesday, Aug. 14.
In 1837, Thomas and Hannah Chantry came to eastern Iowa from West Chester, Penn. They resided in Lee and Van Buren counties until 1854 when they moved to Guthrie County, Iowa. Their six sons and three
daughters established homes, reared families, contributed to the upbringing and welfare of their communities where they located and left names of honor to their sons and daughters.
It was these sons and daughters from far and near who gathered to renew friendships, to meet the new members of the family circle and to spend the day in happy conversation of other days and other times,
with a rededication to the fine type of citizenship worthy of the pioneer forbears.
