BURGOIN FAMILY HELD REUNION

Sixty-three relatives, including one from England, were present at a reunion of the Burgoin and Rew families Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Burgoin. The picnic dinner and reunion honored William Burgoin, who celebrated his seventieth birthday, and Arthur Burgoin of London, who is visiting his brother, James, and other relatives.

Oldest guest present was Sam Rew of Winside, Neb., 80. who came to the midwest from England in 1883. The youngest was Marguerite Burgoin, one-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rew Burgoin.

Out-of-town guests at the picnic were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rew and family of Sioux City, Ia., Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Rew and family of Tabor, Mr. and Mrs. John West and family of Sidney, Mr. and Mrs. Ward Burgoin and family of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. George Rew and family of Mineola, Mr. and Mrs. William Rew and family of Henderson, Mrs. Beymer Lehman and Miss Edith Burgoin of Council Bluffs and Tom Lindley of Omaha.

On the shady lawn at the Geo. Burgoin home Sunday, July 2 occurred the Burgoin family gathering. The dinner was served from a table patriotically decorated. Country fried chicken with all the trimmings still take for picnic food with the Burgoin families. In the afternoon visiting was the feature. A treasure film was used to take pictures of the three generations present.

Among families present were: from the William Burgoin family were Mrs. Mae Burgoin, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Burgoin, Mr. and Mrs. Ward Burgoin and Hope of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. George Burgoin and Patty, Mr. and Mrs. George Carlson and Marion, Gail Burgoin, Mrs. Donald Burgoin, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Goos, Mr. and Mrs. Beemer Lehman of Carroll, Iowa, and Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Tyson and son were unable to attend.

All the James Burgoin family was present except Alice, who is teaching at Cornell University. Present were: Mr. and Mrs. James Burgoin and Marjorie, Mr. and Mrs. Rew Burgoin and Marguerite, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Skerrtt and Harold, Mr. and Mrs. Vnson Goos.

Edith Burgoin of Council Bluffs represented the Earnest Burgoin family. Mr. Earnest Burgoin, Mr. and Mrs. Shorty Burgoin, Shirley Burgoin and Bill Burgoin who live at Conoga Park, Cal., were not present.

Other guests present included: Mrs. Margaret Plumer, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Godfrey and Donald and Dewey Summings.

Since the last family gathering in July, 1940, when the Burgoin families bid Ethel and Douglas Tyson farewell, many things have happened. Ethel and Douglas have a son Jim and have been taken Japanese prisoners of war and are stationed in a Camp at Bagui. William Burgoin passed away December 2, 1942, Clarence Burgoin is a Staff Sgt. in the army, in France. Jack Burgoin, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Burgoin is a A.O. M. 3-c in United States Navy and is stationed at Quillayute, Wash. Two marriages, Betty and Jean Burgoin occurred during the past year. The day was enjoyed by all present and hopes for the future were expressed by all as they departed.
