White Cloud Mill
White Cloud Township

History:
The White Cloud Mill on the West Nishnabotna River is shown here in the early 20th century. Henry Hamaker opened his first mill at White Cloud in 1853 and then built a covered toll bridge across the river.

In 1867, the Glenwood Opinion noted the "old shanty situated diagonally to the points of the compass" that offered "Council Bluffs beer" at White Cloud and the next year, listed S. T. Brothers' General Store and the Star Dry Goods "at the sign of the red flag."
