Harriet (Holstine) Lewis, born Dec.10,1810 in Botetourt County, Virginia. The daughter of Henry Holstine IV, and Margaret Webb Holstine. She married Daniel Johnson Lewis Oct. 24, 1830 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

They were the parents of twelve children, three girls and nine boys. Three of the boys died in infancy. Harriet died Jan. 14, 1891 and is buried with her husband in the East Liberty Cemetery, Mills, Iowa. Daniel and Harriet were among the first pioneers of Mills County arriving in the fall of 1850.
