Among the graduates at the 75th commencement of Simpson College at Indianapolis this spring is Joyce Pierson of Henderson. She received the diploma of primary education.
At that time the honorary degree of doctorate of law was conferred upon Mrs. Ruth Buxton Sayre of Ackworth. A degree of doctor of divinity was also conferred upon the Rev. W. Frank Lister, and the Rev. George A. Lawton.
These men are alumni of Simpson.
Mr and Mrs. T. D. Phillips celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary May 21.
Miss Margaret Housten, a teacher in Henderson, leaves soon to live in California.
Miss Maxine Noble of Lincoln will be the new home economics teacher for next year.
Miss Bucher, primary teacher last year, is now attending summer school in Omaha.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Allensworth celebrated their 17th anniversary recently.
Mrs. Ward Cunningham and daughter Elearnor were in Council Bluffs visiting.
Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Jessup and children have been visiting relatives in Maxbury. Their daughter Sara Lens remained for an extended visit.
Mrs. Mary Wilkenson has received word that her son Jimmie and wife arrived safely in Alaska where they will both be working.
Jacqueline and Patricia Moore, who have been staying with their sister, Mrs. Pauline Steiner, have returned to their farm home west of town.
Morris Harbor has returned from his first college year at Indianapolis to vacation at home.
There is news of the arrival of a baby boy to the Edwin Wilkenson home in Alaska.
Mr. Wilkenson was a former resident here.
Arthur and Howard Allensworth took down 33 steel bins during their stay at Mineola.
Reign Byers and family and Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Harbor called in Red Oak Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Jenkins and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hunter Hughes of the Wales vicinity have received word that their sons have arrives safely in Ireland.
Elmer Evans is recovering nicely from his surgery for appendicitis in Council Bluffs.
At the close of the school year the basketball team will be losing four members; George Triplett, Robert Wight, Everett Conner and Lyle Sowers. They will also lose Lloyd Stevens, pitcher on the baseball team.
Mrs. Pearl Harbor gave a talk at the Christian Aid last week. Lunch was served by Mesdames Hugh McSweeney and Earl Boileau. Sixteen were present.
Vic Wilson of Macedonia came to town on business last week.
Mr. and Mrs. George Evans came from Illinois to visit his ailing father, Elmer Evans.
George Steiner has sold his oil business in Macedonia. Possession will be given immediately to Brett Bisbee.
Mrs. Mary Evans has spent the winter with her daughter, Mrs. Frank Jones, of near Macedonia. She has now returned to Wales.
Dorothy Steele, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Art Steele of Henderson, was chosen as valedictorian of the Carson Graduating class.
Elton Clayton, a former resident now of Omaha, is working on the Mrs. Eula Stevens farm near Macedonia.
Mesdames Will Small, Marie Paul and Emma Workman were Glenwood and Malvern callers Wednesday.
Dr. DeWitt of Macedonia visited in town Wednesday.
Mrs. Arlene Harbor Gamble has left to resume her work for the F.B.I in Washington, D.C.
Mrs. Ernest Jones of Omaha has been helping Mrs. Carl Jones of Macedonia during her illness.
Mrs. Pearl Harbor and Margaret Harbor were on business in Carson Saturday.
G.W. Wilson spent a few days in Excelsior Springs, Mo.
Connie Hornbuckle has recovered satisfactorily from a tonsillectomy. Dr Witt performed the surgery.
A cousin from Lincoln spent the week-end in the T.D. Phillips home.
Seventy six relatives and friend enjoyed a weiner roast at the Hugh Shook home Wednesday.
Fred Phelps and family were dinner guests Sunday in the Marian Keast home.
A. H. Harbor and sister Margaret traveled to Council Bluffs for leg x-rays for Mr. Harbor.
