Reorganized Latter Day Saints

The Reorganized Latter Day Saints (RLDS) was formally organized April 6, 1860; under the leadership of the son of the founder, Joseph Smith, III. There were many LDS members in southwest Iowa in the 1850s and 1860s, who were joined by others returning from Utah.

Between two and three thousand of these joined the "RLDS" Church in the early 1860s to 1875, the time period these branch records cover. The church is now known as Community of Christ.

Glenwood Branch:
This RLDS Glenwood branch could have originally been known as "Old Keg Creek" branch, located where Keg Creek flowed over the bluffs into the rich bottomlands. It was organized December 1, 1861 by Charles Derry with about 19 charter members. Many of these were formerly LDS or "Mormons" who did not continue the trek to Utah. It went through several re-organizations, the last being in 1893. The following list reflects the baptized members to about 1875.
