The Pilgrim Holiness Church has a long history in Glenwood and Tabor and the surrounding area. It began as a missionary church in tents in Southwest, Iowa.
Glenwood became the center of the activities and in 1892, an opera house located on the southeast corner of the square, became the church and headquarters building.
Rules in the early church were very strict and preaching very strong. The camp meetings were usually held in the summer, mostly in the month of August, with a huge bonfire,
singing, praying and preaching.
Members of the Pilgrim Holiness Church have traditionally been strong revival, evangelistic, missionary minded people.
Later the Pilgrim Holiness, and the Wesleyan Methodist Churches merged, henceforth to be called The Wesleyan Church.
