Gowens-Turner Cemetery
Oak Township, West part, Section 28

Check here for on-line photos.
Gowens_Turner Cemetery: Located at the head of Pony Creek Dam between two farms. Gowens was at one time a larger cemetery covering the entire hillside. Many had died of typhoid fever from a contaminated well. Gowens School, which had been located at the base of the hill, also served as a community church and chapel for burial at the cemetery.

When the Historical Society checked the cemetery some years ago, a fence was built around the graves which were distinguishable. The five stones remaining are relatives of the Godsey family. For additions or corrections to these records, please contact: Mills County IAGenWeb CC.
