Has held offices of Town Trustee, School Director and Justice of the Peace. He married Miss Catharine Trease in 1841; she was born in Tennessee; has nine children--James, Jesse, Thomas, Samuel, David, Nelson, Caroline M., Nervesta C. and Sarah A.
