Mahaska Co. Marriages
Many thanks to Celia Tomlin for all of her hard work in getting the following marriages transcribed. The records were recorded as they appear on the microfilm copies of the records found in the Family History Library, film numbers:
| 0985381 V. 1-3, 1844-1864 0985382 V. 4-5, 1865-1880 0985383 V. 1-2, 1880-1897 0985384 V. 3, 1897-1906 1787319 V.4-6, 1906-1939 |
Indexes:
Book 1: 1844-1851
Book 2: 1851-1854
Book 3:
Book 4: 1865
It is well worth looking at the microfilm to see the actual record. Although Celia transcribed most of the information, there may be something interesting or important left out. The earliest records are all hand written. After 1851 there are various forms used. The earliest ones provide the most information, i.e. the ages of the bride and groom and the site of the weddings.
To do a fast search, please return to the main page and use the search box there. Otherwise the marriages are listed in record or date of the license order. Early marriages were mostly solomenized by a Justice of the Peace or less often a Minister. Later marriages were a more even split between the Justices and Ministers.
This is an opportunity for you to add additional information or pictures about people you know. Either send me a file, picture, or link and it will be posted. Thanks for your help.
Most important, if you see a typo, transcription or other mistake, please let me know so I can make a correction or add more and the most correct information.
NOTE: NR = Not Reported
