- HELP!
- Just received some pages from the History of Mahaska County. On
page 401 is a list of men who served in the Civil War.
Unfortunately, I do not have the page that states which group they
served in. If you have a copy of that boo, would please check pages
399 - 400 that should match p.401. I would like the information.
Also, does any one know of any print copies of the Mahaska county
census for 1856 or 1860? Thanks, Jan

- Searching for grandmother: Nellie Boulger. Census says she
was born in Mahaska co, Iowa. But I find nothing more. She was b. to
Marge or Martha Fox Boulger about 1892. Need info on her
parents also. I think her father, John, was a coal miner. They left

- I am researching the line of Francis Marion Brown of Adams
twp, Mahaska co, IA. Marion, b. in Ripley co. IN, 1840; d. Mahaska
co. 1913. He moved from IN to IA in 1872 with wife, Pruey Wise.
Children: Elmer; Catherine, m. Henry Trissler; Florence, m.
Lewis McCombs; Jeanette, m. Arthur Paul Whitlock.
Marion had 2 sisters, Elize, m. James Ruby of Mahaska co. and
Arilla also m. James Ruby and his brother Andrew Ruby.
Marion's grandmother, Sarah Bell had been married to Samuel Ruby.

- Researching the William C. Bunyard family. He lived in
Mahaska co. between 1880 - 1890. I believe he was buried in Mahaska
co. sometime between 1890-1910. His wife, Angeline, may have been
born in Mahaska @1864. I believe her parents to be Wm and Emilne Barnard
who lived in Richland twp between 1880 and 1910. They celebrated a
50th wedding anniversary there @1908. Angeline was living in Colfz,
Jasper co. Some of their cildren were b. in Mashaska co.: Edward,
Chester, Emma, Mary, Blanche, Cora, Anna, Elmer. Any information

- Jonathan Hill and his wife Sarah Jane moved to Kilbourn,
Iowa in 1853. In 1860 they are listed on the census as living in Van
Buren County. After his wife Sarah died, Jonathan married Anna Mary Rowe
in Mahaska County where they continued to live and farm until 1887.
They then moved in Knoxville, Iowa. Jonathan and his wives are
buried in Bluff Creek Cemetery west of Eddyville, Iowa in Monroe
County. Jonathan and his first wife, Sarah, had 9 children: Modecai,
Mary Margarite, Sarah Jane, Nancy Elizabeth, Alious, Jonathan,
Lafayett, Charles and Martha (Mattie). The children from his second
mariage are: Fred Linderman, Thomas Shane, Jettie Pearl and Urban.
Any information on these people would be appreciated.
