With them are their sons Henry, Martin, Elmer, James W., Charles, Thomas, David, and Darius. Martin is my gr. grandfather and James was my 2nd gr. grandfather. He served in the Civil War with the 31st Indiana Infantry. His gravestone states that he served with the 51st. They lived in Indianapolis Iowa. James and Malissa, along with a host of other Griggs, Hampton's, Smothers, and several of the Griggs boys are buried in Rice Cemetery in Keokuk County.
