We are sorry to
inform you the Ancestry.com arbitrarily chose to shut down all
of RootsWeb in November of 2017 for unexplained "security
issues". The impacts to this website are as follows: 1.
The Madison County Family Tree was down for about 6 months.
Access has been restored but we are not allowed to update it and
Ancestry discontinued indexing updates about 2 years ago, making
the family tree much less useful. It is unknown whether Ancestry
will ever again restore full functionality. 2.The
Madison County Genealogical Society website was hosted on
RootsWeb. It went down with everything else in 2017. Although
Ancestry is taking requests to restore hosted websites, they
have had a request to restore the MCGS website since mid July
2018 and have done nothing.
