A list of formerly
posted obituaries to which new and different versions of those
obituaries have been recently appended. The list contains those
obituaries modified in the past year. See the bottom
of this list for a more detailed explanation.
When
this website was first compiled, members of the Madison County
Genealogical Society were enlisted to transcribe the obituary
collection of the Winterset Library which was composed, primarily,
of clippings from the Winterset Madisonian. But there were other
newspapers published in Madison County up until 1945 which usually
contained obituaries similar to those appearing in the Madisonian
but sometimes those obituaries were significantly different, more
complete, or had not appeared in the Madisonian at all. The
latter, as they are found, are posted as new obituaries. The
former, if containing substantive differences to what was
published in the Madisonian, are transcribed and appended to the
previously posted obituary and listed herein as a "Recently
Modified Obituary".
