Notes:

1. Apparently not John Campbell Pensioned SC 406 039, Pvt Co L, 7th Iowa Cavalry died 21 Aug 1897, I. S. H. Marshalltown, Iowa. Lived at Solon, Johnson Co., Iowa

2. Nor John Campbell, Co I and A, 14th Iowa Infantry, pensioned SO 166 206 living Pilot Grove, Lee County, 1891; Salem, Iowa 1903; died 19 Feb 1903, Salem, Iowa.

3. Apparently, this man showed up at one meeting of the Truro GAR Post, was voted in, but no other record of his membership could be found. There is no John Campbell in the 1895 Iowa Madison census. There are two John Campbells in the cemetery records but neither is old enough to have served in the Civil War.
