vol. 2 Pub 1915 - Joseph E. Brittain, farmer, was born Jefferson
Twp., Madison Co., son of P and Sarah Cox Brittain, natives of Mo.
and Indiana respectively. his father removed to Madison County
before the Civil War and enlisted in Co A 39 Iowa farmed Madison Co.
Jeff Twp until 1902, then sold that place and purchased 123 acres
Sec 10 & 11, Madison Twp well improved. He passed away 4 Nov
(1909 error) and is survived by widow still living on home place.
Joseph E. married Miss Aley Fennings 4th July 1909 (dau of Taylor
and Eliz. (Hunt) Jennings, both born Ohio but removed to Dallas Co.
