Penn Center Cemetery
The
Penn
Center
Cemetery is located in Section 15 near the center of
Penn
Township (Township 77N , R 29 w) in Madison County, Iowa. It was
established as a cemetery about 1888. Located in the northwest
corner of
Madison
County
,
Penn
Township
was the last township of the county to be settled. Most of the
land in the township was prairie and the lack of many trees made
it almost impossible for the settlers to survive, until the Rock
Island
railroad (Des Moines to Omaha route) was built in 1868.
