The land for the Clark cemetery located in Section 4 of Monroe township was given by Nathaniel Clark and John A. Macumber in 1870. Nathaniel Clark gave the land for the cemetery.
The earliest tombstone is that of a child of L. A. and O. Rhodes buried there October 31, 1861. Inscriptions on some of the other early stones were James F.
Macumber, May 11, 1864, William Roby, August 12, 1864, Peter R.
Macumber, September 17, 1865, Bufford Boling, January 7, 1866, Sarah Roby, March 10, 1869, Carrie May West, March 11, 1869. The Rhodes, Roby and West families were related to the Nathaniel Clarks who gave the land for the cemetery. |
