| Barney
Cemetery
Back in the early 1890s Barney
began to see the need of a cemetery. Through the generosity of one
of the land owners, Henry Leasman, a plot of ground situated high
on a hill just west of town was given. Soon lots were plotted and
bought by people of the surrounding territory and in 1893 the
first grave for the burial of Bessie Olive was dug. Bessie was the
little baby daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ruel Palmer.
