FRUIT GROWING

As early as 1880, great interest was taken in fruit culture.  In 1882, Frank O'Niel of Grant township, had a two-acre orchard of apple, cherry, plum and crab trees; also all kinds of small fruit, from which he marketed at Sibley $65 worth, besides enough to keep his family until another year.  Many others had even larger yields of delicious fruits.  He set out fifteen hundred trees another season later, all of which did well.
