Douglass Cemetery, is 1 of the oldest. if not the oldest cemetery in Lucas county. This Cemetery is the original Chariton Cemetery. It is located in Lincoln township, section 32. This Cemetery however was abandoned long ago, and is likely to be named after Noble Douglass. Noble once owned the land it sits on.

Hiram Wilson, who was lynched in Chariton in 1870 for the murder of Gaylord Lyman ( Sheriff ). Hiram is believed the first man buried in Potter's field of Douglass Cemetery.
