The Chariton Herald-Patriot: Andrew Albertson of Derby was born in Holstein, at that time a province of Denmark, and died at the home of his niece, Mrs. Lena Nesson, with whom he had made his home for the last 33 years, he was 82 years of age. He served in the war between Denmark and Purssia, fighting against the Danes. Came to the united States in 1858 and became a citizen on Sept 7, 1863. On Sept 23, 1861 he enlisted as a Prvt. in Co A 11 Ill. Cav. In the battle of Shiloh he was wounded in the leg and taken to the hospital. After the war he came to Burlington and farmed for a short time, later went to Derby where he lived for 33 years. He was known as "Uncle" to the neighbors.
